MOORLAND FARM
Great Grandfather Lewis Chard farmed the Mendip Hills and ran a thriving butchers shop in Axbridge High Street from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. Picture shows the shop Christmas 1904. Grandfather, Arthur took over, but his premature death in 1954 meant the shops' closure . Liz's father and uncle, Rex and Michael took over the running of the farm and Rex established the Aberdeen Angus herd that formed the basis of the herd that Liz and Peter farm today.
Retailing their produce started in a small way in the 1990's however the advent of the Bristol Farmers Market in 1998 was a breakthrough required to expand this side of the business. We now have a busy farm shop and attend 9 Farmers Markets per month.

"The taste and quality of this traditional food has never been lost. What has been maintained is a simple food production that is quality, value, additive free, low food miles and personal. Our meat production is very special indeed. It is unique to the herd and land we own. It tells a story as we have produced it from start to finish, from the farm to the table."
We sell direct from the farm shop and our stall at selected
farmers markets, with plans to offer a direct delivery service.
